Bob Feist Invitational (BFI) owners Corky Ullman and Daren Peterson are pleased to announce a three-year sponsorship by Bloomer Trailers, one of the industry’s premier manufacturers of living-quarters trailers.
The BFI, scheduled this year for June 22 in Reno, Nev., is one of the industry’s richest and most challenging annual Open team ropings, accepting just 100 entries and paying out more than $700,000 in cash and prizes.
“Anybody in any kind of Western business knows something about the Bob Feist,” said Randy Bloomer, the company’s founder and CEO. “It’s kind of like the Granddaddy of ’Em All, like Cheyenne. We wanted to hook our brand to the event that every aspiring roper in the world wants to win.”
The BFI has been held annually in June since 1977 when founder Bob Feist had the vision to gather added money to a limited-entry stand-alone event. Ullman and Peterson bought the roping from Feist in 2012.
“We’re thrilled to have Bloomer as the official trailer of the BFI,” said Peterson. “They sponsor a large number of our returning contestants and share our drive to make things bigger and better for team ropers.”
Bloomer’s latest model, The Evolution, reflects Randy Bloomer’s theory that it’s best to constantly evolve your product. While he credits Bob Feist as the human precursor to all of today’s great ropings, he says the BFI’s new owners share Bloomer’s passion for staying on the cutting edge.
“They’re giving this roping a shot of adrenaline,” Bloomer said. “I could see that excitement and I wanted to latch on to it for the long haul. I feel like it’s the next chapter.”
Bloomer, based in Salado, Texas, is also a staunch supporter of high school rodeo and a longtime sponsor of the USTRC and World Series of Team Roping. Randy Bloomer himself is a competitive team roper and will compete the day following the BFI in the annual Reno Rodeo Invitational roping with partner Randy Brooks.
